A new shelter for kids in Bantul
Pendowo, May 13th
We opened a new shelter for children hit by the earthquake, almost a year ago in Bantul. About a hundred kids and parents from
the kampung (village) Pendowo came to celebrate with Anak Wayang Indonesia, a local creative child NGO, the start of the new
project. Donors from Anak Wayang Nederland (AWN) made this start up possible; thank
you so much. Caroline Kramer, the boardmember of AWN who lives in this area for a year, implemented the intire project
together with AWI, but she happened to become too ill (probably dengue) to join the opening event..poor Caro, hope you get
better soon!
About 50 children, that still suffer from a trauma, will have the chance to work on it, with creative therapy like dance,
music and drawing. It was a honour to be part of this special event!
Now we still look for funding: it will cost about 6000 euros to run this effective project for the coming year. The small
foundation Anak Wayang Nederland, of which I am allowed to be chairman, tries to get this money together now. More info via
the link mentioned above or email info@anakwayang.nl.
If you can help these kids, terima kasih / thanks!
